Trilafon
Trilafon has been linked to Tardive Dyskinesia,
a potentially irreversible syndrome occurring in antipsychotic drug
users. In May 2002, Trilafon drug labeling changes were made
to better warn that Tardive Dyskinesia was a risk of Trilafon and other
antipsychotic drugs, especially amongst the elderly and in women. The
Trilafon safety warning advised patients be prescribed Trilafon, if
needed, in a manner that would most greatly reduce Tardive Dyskinesia
risks.
In October 2001, older patients had already been warned of the risks
of suffering Tardive Dyskinesia with the use of Trilafon. For years,
a link between antipsychotics and serious adverse effects has been made,
yet little is known about them. Antipsychotics, such as Trilafon, have
come under growing attack and controversy recently due to the number
of serious, adverse effects that continue to be reported.
